Any and all of the details that you provide Joaen Pty Ltd (Joaen) are strictly confidential.  The use of these details will always be approved by you, unless in the case of legal requirements.  Joaen will not sell or give your information to any third parties not associated with our website directly.  Access to your details by Joaen staff will be strictly limited to management.

We use your personal information only for providing and improving joaen.com.au.  By using our site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

 

1.    Personal Information Collected

(a)            While using Joaen, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you.  Collection of your personal information can occur through the following interactions:

(i)              when you access and use our website;

(ii)              when you complete purchase orders, registrations, requests or applications for our products or services (by phone, in person or electronically);

(iii)             when you communicate with us directly (by email, telephone, direct mail, online chat, social media platforms or any other means);

(iv)              during conversations with our team members;

(v)            when you interact with us during any marketing promotions, competitions, special events or surveys; or

(vi)              if you are a candidate for employment, when you complete forms in relation to the recruitment and selection process, for the purpose of assessment.

(iv)            telephone number;

(v)             mobile number;

(vi)            date of Birth;

(vii)           browser IP address;

2.    How we hold personal information

(a)            We will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access and modification or disclosure. If we no longer require the use of your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it.

(b)           The internet is not always a secure environment. If you use the Internet to send us any information, it is sent at your own risk.

(c)            Personal information may be stored electronically through third party data centres, which may be located overseas, or in physical storage at our premises or third party secure storage facilities.

 

3.    Cookies

Joaen uses cookies to ensure your shopping experience is a smooth one.  Cookies are small data files that are shared between your device and Joaen.  They are used to remind us of who you are when you connect, so that we know if you are logged in or if you’ve previously added items to your basket.  They are never shared with anyone else, and do not contain any personally identifiable information, they are just special numbers that only mean something useful to Joaen.

 

4.    Advertising

Joaen incorporates third‑party tools that use cookies, tracking pixels and related technologies.  In a similar way, these are unique, secure and private numbers that only mean something useful to the third‑party companies involved, and do not contain any personally identifiable information.  This information is never shared with Joaen, or anyone else, only between you and those third‑party systems.  They are used to personalise your experience and may be used to target advertising to you on other websites.

 

5.    Security

(a)            Joaen strives to ensure security, integrity and privacy of personally identifiable information of its customers.  Joaen uses a variety of physical and electronic security measures to keep personal information secure from misuse, loss or unauthorised access, modifications or disclosure, including restricting physical access to its offices and firewalls and secure databases.

(b)             Joaen ensures that any personal information that you provide during the registration and checkout process is kept confidential and is solely used for the purpose of processing your order.  Joaen guarantees that the information entered on our site will not be disclosed to any external organizations or third parties.

(c)            Your purchase is secured by Shopify Payments.  Your credit card details are passed securely through Shopify Payments’ certified secure payment process, not stored by our website.  We do not store your credit card details, they are deleted after your purchase has been completed.  Payment or debiting of your credit/debit card will be completed when you accept to complete the transaction at checkout.

(d)              We take a firm stance against credit card fraud.  If a transaction is flagged in our system, we reserve the right to conduct any and all security checks to ensure that the owner of the card authorises the transaction.  If the requested security check is not complied with, we reserve the right to dishonour, cancel, refund and report the transaction information with the relevant Fraud Prevention and Banking Authorities.  The decision to do so is at our sole discretion.

(e)            If you believe that your credit card details have been used against your knowledge or permission, please contact us as soon as possible and we will assist where we can in preventing any orders being shipped.  We recommend that you also contact your bank and get a block on the card, to prevent any future transactions being placed fraudulently.

(f)              Your email address will be used to receive information about new products and special offers when you subscribe to Joaen updates.  All marketing and promotional emails from Joaen contain an ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the end of the email, which is an easy one click, cost free process to opt out of receiving further messages of that type.  Alternatively, you may remove yourself from the mailing list by logging into your account and opting out of the mailing list.

(g)            Joaen is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act (1988) (Cth) in relation to the handling of personal information.

(h)              In the event that you have forgotten your password, you can request a new password to be sent to your registered email address.  Alternatively, you can email info@joaen.com.au for assistance and you will be sent a new temporary password to your email address.  Upon receiving your new temporary password, you may change it under your account for added security purposes.

 

6.    Links to Third Party Websites

Our privacy policy extends to the information based on our website, however we may have links to external sites.  Those external sites are not covered by our privacy policy and we recommend that you review those policies before using any third party website.  If you follow a link to any third party website, this may allow third parties to collect or share your personal data.  Joaen does not accept responsibility or liability for these policies.

 

7.    Retention of Information

Joaen will only keep your information for as long as reasonably necessary, i.e. for as long as you are a customer, or until such time that you request for your personal information to be removed or deleted.

 

8.    Text Marketing and Notifications

By entering your phone number in the checkout and initialising a purchase, subscribing via our subscription form or a keyword, you agree that we may send you text notifications (for your order, including abandoned cart reminders) and text marketing offers.  Text marketing messages will not exceed 20 a month.  You acknowledge that consent is not a condition for any purchase.  If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving text marketing messages and notifications reply with STOP to any mobile message sent from us or use the unsubscribe link we provided you with in any of our messages.  You understand and agree that alternative methods of opting out, such as using alternative words or requests will not be accounted as a reasonable means of opting out.  Message and data rates may apply.  For any questions please text HELP to the number you received the messages from.  You can also contact us for more information.  If you wish to opt out, please follow the procedures above. 
 

9.    Your Rights

Yours rights under this privacy policy are summarised below, which include the right to:

(a)            be informed about how your personal information is being used;

(b)              access the personal information we hold about you;

(c)            request the correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you;

(d)              request that we delete your data, or stop processing it or collecting it, in some circumstances;

(e)            stop direct marketing messages and to withdraw consent at any time; and

(f)              complain to your data protection regulator.

 

10.    Changes to this Privacy Policy

Joaen may update this privacy policy from time to time.  We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.  You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes.

 

11.    Privacy Breaches

If for any reason, you believe your privacy has been breached, please contact info@joaen.com.au. and we will investigate the issue accordingly.

We will endeavour to investigate the complaint and respond to you. If you are unhappy with our response, complaints may be made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au).
